Hearing Conservation Program

30 minutes

Excessive sound levels can result in permanent hearing loss, create physical and psychological stress and interfere with communication. Noise exposure standards are established by the Ontario Ministry of Labour under the Noise Regulation 381.

The regulation requires that every employer take all measures reasonably necessary in the circumstances to protect workers from exposure to hazardous sound levels.

After taking this course, trainees will have an understanding of:

  • How to recognize noise exposure hazards in the workplace
  • Noise Hazard Assessments using phase 1 and phase 2 sound level monitoring
  • Noise hazard controls
  • Hearing Protection Devices
  • Responsibilities for hearing conservation

This course is designed for all workers within Ontario workplaces.
